Um, help? Please?

Fill box.  Close.  Tape.  Fill box. Close.  Tape.  Repeat till you dream of packing boxes.  Or till you are so tired of packing you want to scream.  For a women who really really thinks she does a good job of purging stuff regularly we still have a whole lot of crap to pack.  Dishes, pots ‘n pans, clothes, blankets, cleaning supplies, food… it all adds up to an excessive amount of boxes really.  For the last six days I have been buried in boxes and two emergency working days as I had to cover for a sick coworker.  P really didn’t care for the fact that I had to work on the big moving day.  That did not go over well.  Tomorrow is the last final hurrah of moving/cleaning.

One small snag in our moving is that the house is not quite done… running water would be nice really.  And a sink for the water to run from/to would also be nice.  We are moving into my BIL’s house till it is done.  Here’s to hoping it goes fast.

Steve

First day of class I walked in, sat down (I was hung down, brung down, hung up… ok not really but can you name that song?*). Anywhoo I sat down and there two rows up was my friend from high school. I was so excited that I knew anyone in class and I waited for break to go talk to him. At break he got up and went outside (we all did back then) and I followed.

-Hey Steve!

-I’m not Steve….

-Um, yes you are… aren’t you?

-Um… No.

-Your really not Steve? Just trying to play a joke on me?

-Really not Steve. Honest.

And so began the oddest shortest college friendship I had. After swearing to me that he really really was not Steve I told him he was his twin then. At this point I am sure this poor young man thought I was just trying to find a way to talk to him, or nuts or both. We talked a little at break and I told him I would bring a picture of Steve next week. Next week, I showed up with a picture of my friend Steve. The only differance between the picture Steve and my new odd friend was the side of their head that they parted their hair. I have never seen someone look so shocked in his entire life.

Poor Steve-twin stared at that picture the entire class. He asked me if he could keep the picture and I agreed. Steve’s real full name was written on the back (see my anal retentive side was showing up even then). I told the Steve-twin that all I remembered about real Steve during that class break. He left class that night still clutching that picture and shaking his head. He never showed up for class again. All semester I always hoped he would come back I was dying with curiosity! He never did, and I never found out if they were twins separated at birth. I still Google the real Steve every now and then hopping to see a picture of two Steves with a attached story of how they found out in college that they were twins.  Real Steve has a web site of his current research and college info.  He has gone on to study things that I don’t even fully understand the basic principle of.  All of his college degrees, his published papers and even pictures of him during his graduations are there.  But I have yet to see a picture of two Steves.  Some day I hope I do.

*Are you all telling me that none of you have every heard of Alice’s Restaurant?  Wow, thats sad.

And it’s back. Again.

Amélie  has  pneumonia.  Both boys have ear infections,  P has a really really nasty cold or something.  He is going in tomorrow to see, and moi?  I have a raging uti.  Life is not exactly peachy here today.  Sooooo I am thinking sometime tomorrow I will try and tell you all about my friend from high school named Steve and his look alike I met in college. Fascinating stuff I tell ya.  Well, not too fascinating really, but much much better than “We are all sick again.  Want to hear about our new pharmacy in the fridge?”.  Really the Steve story is much better.

It’s all in my head

I had thought I had written this huge long post about us moving and all, but I must have left it in my head.  We are moving.  Soon.  As in ten days soon. End of month soon.  Most of the big stuff is going this weekend, along with everything else that we will not need for a few days of daily life.  I have been packing like crazy and am so tired of boxes and paper everywhere.  The house we are moving into is being remodeled, and I am really not even sure it will be done by the first.  All I am hoping for is running water and a shower.  I can cook on a camp stove on the kitchen floor for all I care if the cabinets are not in on time.  But I can not go without a shower.

I am going to try and go up to the house today and move some boxes into the basement.  If I can do that without disturbing the progress on the house.  If I do make it I will take some pictures.  They  finished putting the tile in the entry way, the half bath, and the main bath tile was almost done on Friday as well.  I am just loving everything they are doing.   It looks really nice.

So, we are moving.  Sooner than I am ready for.  The living room is full of boxes, and my kitchen is too.   I can not wait to be done.  Really.

More than you ever wanted to know

Karen over at PediaScribe tagged me for a meme yesterday. Since all I have swirlling around in my brain the last few days is something along the lines of “Ack!!!! Moving soon!!! Ack!!! Not packed, house not done. Construction everywhere. ACK!!!!!” and more of the same. I am so taking the free writing prompt and giving you a meme. Enjoy! Thanks Karen!

1.) I always read magazines from back to front. Funny thing is I never noticed it until P pointed it out to me one day.

2.) I can never not do something. While watching a movie I am cleaning the kitchen, or baking a cake, or folding laundry or something. I can never just sit still and not be productive.

3.) I am kinda a little really really anal about how the towels are hung up to dry in the bathroom. I am always fixing P’s so that it looks right. This doesn’t bother him in the least as long I as I don’t insist that he hang it up properly. I am welcome to always fix it though. Last week during the black plague I had P knew I was really sick when I just threw the towel on the rack. I think he almost took me in to ER at that moment. Oh, and yes the sweet husband that he is… he fixed it for me.

4.) I make fried chicken for supper some nights just so I can pick the really crispy pieces off the bottom of the pan when the chicken is all done and on the serving plate. Tonight was one of those days. It was goooood.

5.) I love eggnog so much that I think I gained ten pounds this last holiday season from buying it. It is the only thing that really throws off my grocery budget. Last year the grocery store had it in stock during the Easter season. I believe I did a little dance in the aisle when I saw it that time.

6.) I am horrible at fashion. I don’t think I dress really badly or anything. At least I don’t think I do, no one has nominated me for “What not to wear” yet… I don’t think. But I just never know what goes with what. I am always asking begging pleading for someone to come shopping with me so that I don’t end up looking like a dork. And yet, I love shopping.

7.) I still don’t really care for ice cream or pizza. I have never liked either one since being a little girl. Sure, every once in a great while (about once every two months for pizza and once every 3-4 for ice cream) I will get a craving for it, but beyond that I don’t eat the stuff. When I was pregnant with Josiah i suddenly craved milk shakes every. Single. Day. P thought he had won the lottery I was buying ice cream by the gallon tubs. Alas (to him) it didn’t last a day past giving birth and the craving didn’t come back with the other two pregnancy’s.

I don’t really know who to tag, so if you are reading and would like a free writing idea consider yourself tagged.

Oh, and I have done this meme once a while ago and a random fact post just because once too. Feel free to check them out if you really need to know more odd stuff about me.
